About

Why Alta Terra exists.

Alta Terra is Alex and Matt. We started it to build homes in the Farmington Valley whose performance you can check. Every home we build is sealed tight and then tested by an independent blower-door test. You get the number in writing.

Why we started

A number, in writing, for every house.

Plenty of builders say their houses are comfortable, efficient and well made. Few hand you a number. We care about how a house is made as much as how it looks: how quiet it is, how the air feels, what it costs to run, and how long it will stand. A blower-door test puts a number on how tight the house is, which speaks to comfort, air quality and running cost. A photo can't.

We model the house before the first shovel, so the design and the budget agree. We build it carefully, and every home will get a 3D scan of every wall before the drywall goes up, so you have a virtual twin of your house, and a handover binder with a digital copy of everything. The blower-door test comes last, before you move in. That is the whole idea, and it is the standard every home gets.

We build in the Farmington Valley because we know it: the stone, the trees, the hills, and what it takes to put a house on them. That is also why we start with the land.

What we hold ourselves to

Three things, on every house.

01

Tested, and you get the numbers.

Every home we build is sealed tight and then tested by an independent blower-door test. You get the number in writing. How we build →

02

Honest about the land.

The lot decides more than the drawings do: where the sun falls, where the septic goes, what is under the grass. We walk lots across the Valley and publish write-ups of the ones we'd build on, with what each would take. Found one yourself? Ask us for a site review before you buy it. Land worth building on →

03

No quiet swaps.

What's in the budget you approved is what gets built. If something has to change, you hear about it first, with the cost. The same goes when we build from your architect's drawings. How the process works →

Where we are

Alta Terra is new.

The first homes are in design. Our Avon design study, a house fit to a ridge lot, is drawn, modeled and budgeted as a case study, and the standard every home gets is written down. We haven't built one yet.

A first client gets both of us on the job from the first call to the keys, the same test and the same binder every later client will get, and a real say in how the company works.

Who we are

Two people, one standard. Alta Terra is Alex Nocera and Matt Visintainer. We will design and build homes in the Farmington Valley, and we walk the lots ourselves. We're writing up our stories; until then, call (860) 264-5577. It rings Alex.

Where we work

The towns we serve.

Six towns in the Farmington Valley, and we know them well. We're based in Burlington and take projects across the Valley.

Outside these towns? We take projects case by case. Tell us about your lot and we'll take a look.

Start

Start a conversation.

Tell us about your land, your timing and what matters most to you. It takes about two minutes. Alex and Matt read every note and reply personally.
